Do I need an Account?
If you wish to become an author and post a story to the site, then yes you do need to register for an account. Otherwise, the site is open for browsing, reading and reviews.

How do I get an Account?
Click on the Register link above and fill in all pertinent information. Please take notice of all required areas or your registration will not submit.

What do I do if I can't log in?
Verify your penname and password and remember they are case sensitive. If you are positive you are using the correct penname then go to #4 to get your password reset.

I've forgotten my password, how do I reset it?
To request a new password, click the "Lost Password" link next to the login above and fill in your email address. A new password will be sent to your email account.

How do I submit a story?
You must be logged in to perform this action. Click on Account Info to go to your Member Account page. Click on Add New Story and fill in Title and Summary. These will not need to be re-entered for additional chapters. Place warnings for the whole of your story like violence, language, explicit sex (oral, anal, or vaginal), non-con, etc in Story Notes.

Pick one main Category for your story and then click the > button to add. This action will pull up the appropriate Sub-categories for that Category. You may hold down the CTRL key and pick as many Sub-categories that fit your story. Click the > button to add your Sub-categories to the box on the right. If you did this correctly, an example of the order of listings in the right box should be: Het, Angst, Smut, Romance, etc… The main Category should be on top and the Sub-categories listed below it.

In the Characters box, please choose all characters that appear in your Gen story, and only the pairings in Het, Femslash, and Threesomes+. Choose the highest rating that appears in your story as a whole, not per chapter. Place chapter warnings for violence, language, explicit sex, non-con, etc... as well as Spoiler warnings in Chapter Notes.

Copy and paste your chapter in the Story Text or upload the file using the Browse function below it. You may preview your chapter before submitting to edit for mistakes or just Add Story.

How do I manage my account, stories, etc?
You must be logged in to perform this action. This area is where you can Add New Stories using the information listed above. Add chapters to your existing stories by using the Manage Stories function. Take notice that adding a Story and adding a Series is the same process but in different areas. You may also add or change information to your Bio or Preferences.

What are the rules for submitting my story?
1. You must be a member of Bad Moon Rising.
2. We only accept fiction based on Supernatural characters.
3. We accept real-person fiction (that is, stories involving the actors) but it must be placed in the appropriate category.
4. We do not accept fiction that depicts relationships between adults and minors.
5. You must submit your stories to the proper category(s).
6. Since titles and summaries will be visible to all readers, please keep them clean and suitable for any age.
7. Stories should be beta'd before posting, the administrators reserve the right to change to moderated posting at any time.
8. All stories must be rated correctly and have the appropriate warnings.
9. Stories with multiple chapters should be archived as such and not as separate stories. Upload the first chapter of your story, then go to Manage Stories in your account to add additional chapters.
10. Groups of related stories may be grouped into 'Series' using your Add New Series and Manage Series pages. You will have control of which stories are in a series and in what order.
11. As much as possible, spoiler warnings are expected for stories that spoil episodes yet to air in the US and UK. You may note the spoilers in the Summary or Chapter Notes.

Submissions found to be in violation of these rules may be removed and the author's account suspended at the discretion of the site administrators and/or moderators. The site administrators reserve the right to modify these rules as needed.

Yes but in the appropriate category. J2 - Wincest/J2 category. Jensen/OFC - Het category. Jared/OMC - Slash category and all variations thereof.

Do I need to set my story as completed?
Yes, once it is completed. Some readers are particular about not reading Work in Progress stories.

Do I have to leave a review or rating?
No, but if you take the time to read a story it is always nice to leave a review. The authors live for this since they do not make any profit from their work.

How do I search for a story?
There are two types of search on this site. Click on Search next to the header and it will pull up the basic search that will let you search for all stories by an author's penname or one story by title. Advanced search allows you to pull up a set of stories based on the parameters you enter. For instance, you can click on Ship, Dean, and NC-17 or MA to pull up all adult stories pairing Dean with any female character.

What is a Series?
"Series" refers to a fanfic author's mini-universe. You may have several stories all set within that same universe (or "series"), but the fanfics themselves can stand alone. If you'd like to group your fanfics into a series, you can do so in this archive. Furthermore, you can create a "closed" series, in which only you can post fics, or an "open" series, in which other registered authors can post stories that take place in that same universe.

Creating a Series: In order to create a series, you must log in to your account. You must also have uploaded at least one story already. In the Account Info page, click the "Add New Series" link. You will be taken to a page where you can name the series and give a summary describing the series. You can also choose genres and warnings, then select whether to make the new series "open" (any author can add a story to the series) or "closed" (only you can post to that series). Click "Submit." On the next page, you will select the stories you wish to add to the series.

You can also manage your current series - adding new stories to the series or removing currently listed stories from the series - by clicking the "Manage Series" link in your Account Info.

What is a Challenge?
If you are a registered member of the archive, you can issue story challenges or respond to challenges by viewing the Challenges page.

All current challenges are listed on the main Challenges page. To view them and their responses, click the challenge name link (e.g., "SmugFic") to view the story that have been submitted in response to the challenge.

If you wish to issue a challenge visit the Challenges page and click "Issue a challenge!" You must include a title to your challenge and a summary describing your challenge with your requirements.

To respond to a challenge with a story that meets the requirements, you must first upload your story to the archive. Once it's been uploaded, find the challenge you wish to respond to and click the "Respond to the Challenge!" link. You will be taken to a page with all your uploaded stories; check the appropriate story or stories, then click the "Submit" button. Your story will be added to the challenge page's response page.

How do I delete my account?
We would be sorry to see you go, but if you really must leave the archive, please contact us so we can remove your account and your stories.

What is an RSS Feed?
RSS is short for "Really Simple Syndication". A RSS feed that often consists of a list of headlines with links to the full story. The feed is automatically updated when a new story is added.

You can read the RSS in two ways: with Web-based feed readers or with client side newsreaders. Web-based feed readers and news aggregators offer you the chance to add RSS feeds to your personalized page.

There are several Web-based feed readers such as: My AOL, Google Reader, My Yahoo!, My MSN and netvibes

If you want to add our RSS feed to another service, the url is: http://badmoonrising.amuseingwriters.co.uk/rss.php

To read the feed, you can use both browsers/mail programs or specific software.
If you use Thunderbird, you can read the feed by adding it to your RSS account (or creating one).
If you use Firefox, you can have the feed as in your bookmarks Live bookmarks or read it with news readers plugins like Wizz RSS News Reader, Sage or NewsFox.
